Join me today on my AMA!
6 months ago – Thu, May 03, 2018 at 10:54:47 PM

My Reddit AMA is today at 1:30pm pacific time!

I'm guessing many of you know what that is, but if you don't check it out, there are some fascinating posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/

It's a place where you can ask someone anything who has a unique job or perspective.

My obvious goal in doing this is to promote the book, but if it feels like an ad, nobody is going to want to join in. AMA's can get interesting, you can ask anything. Bear questions, Axe Cop questions, anything you have a question about. Let's make this fun.

All you have to do is drop in and post your question. No need to hang around if you have other things to do. That's what's nice about it. I'll be answering questions for about 2 hours.

Interesting questions with interesting answers make the whole thing more fun for people to read, and it can be a great way to introduce other people on Reddit to my work or to let them know what I have been up to since I made Axe Cop.

I'll post at about 1:00 and start answering at 1:30. More info here:

22k Stretch Goal Achieved & Reddit IAmA Thursday
6 months ago – Thu, May 03, 2018 at 10:31:43 AM

Foil stamp hardcover has been achieved! Thanks to my recent backers for jumping in and making it happen.

Next stretch goal is 25k and I'll add a fold-out page to the book with either a map or chart of important bear information. Regardless, this is going to be a pretty book!

On Thursday, May 3rd, I'll be doing a Reddit IAmA (Ask me Anything) at 1:30 PM. Joining in is very helpful, so even if you want to ask a ridiculous question, please stop in and post. It helps keep the thread high up on the list and invites new readers to pop in and see what is going on.

We still have 16 days left. Thanks for making this happen!

NEW Stretch Goals
7 months ago – Tue, May 01, 2018 at 11:54:45 AM

Thanks for all your input on the stretch goals. I think the slipcase and the leather bookmark seem to be the most popular choices.

I talked to the printer and they are going to throw in the Spot U/V gloss with the order, so the softcovers and hardcovers will have spot gloss. Fancy!

The next step is to do a foil stamp on the hardcover beneath the dust jacket. Here's a mockup of what it could look like, though if we hit this goal, I think I'll do a few mockups and get a vote going.

The foil stamp is the one on the right. How the book would look without the dust jacket on.

To achieve foil stamping we only need to hit $22k. We are really close to that!

Next stretch goal to add another level of snazzy to the book is to add a fold-out page that would either be a map or a chart of bear moves. To get a fold-out page, I need to hit $25K.

Like this but better, like, more panels hopefully.

Next, and more spendy, is the slipcase. I have come up with two potential mockups (for now):

The hope is that this would be a faux leather with printing on it, but I don't know exactly how possible that is

This one would be printed, no faux leather. The lettering would be in a metallic silver.

There's plenty of time to come up with different designs for these. To achieve this stretch goal I'd need to hit 30k. These would be available ONLY to Kickstarter backers who bought the hardcover.

Custom leather bookmarks seem pretty expensive. If we get anywhere near 30K I'll start looking at prices.

So, if you want to see these customizations, please share this Kickstarter with anyone you think might be interested! Thanks for getting me this far. We have 20 more days to go!

Live Stream Wednesday and International Shipping
7 months ago – Mon, Apr 30, 2018 at 03:38:32 PM

Hey Bear-Backers!

I'll be going live Wednesday, April 25th at 1:30pm pacific time on the one-week launch-iversary! If we hit the 20K stretch goal by then (we're close!) then I would like to discuss further potential upgrades as the budget increases.

If you can't be on at that time, leave a question on this post if you have one and I will address it on the broadcast. The video will remain on this page or two days after it is live if you want to watch it later.

Also, international backers, I know the shipping costs are insane. Trust me, I am not putting any profit on that, that is the cost with packaging. One deal I would like to make with international backers who are being held back by shipping costs is to offer a digital reward that doesn't add to the weight of the shipment.

This would be a zip file of a bunch of PDFs of other works of mine:
-A high-resolution version of Bearmageddon (the comic) from page one all the way to the current page online (over 200 pages)
-A high-resolution version of Dickinson Killdeer's Guide to Bears of the Apocalypse.
-A collection of my three out of print sketchbooks
-PDFs of my Eisner nominated comics Chumble Spuzz

If you ordered internationally at the softcover or high tier, let me know and I will throw in this digital package for you.
